"When travelling with my children on a long car trip or flying I pick up some new toys and books from the $2 shops which are relatively inexpensive. I find the “new” toys are more interesting and they are amused for a little longer than they normally would be with their familiar old toys"

"We just had our first family holiday and I took a roll of double sided tape which was invaluable. I firstly used it on the plane to stick a wrap and cover over the bassinet and then at our hotel to stop the sun peeking through the gap in the blinds!!!"
- Mel, Vic (who recently came back from a tropical holiday overseas!!)
(Sonja's note - what a great idea for the car too, if you don't like car blinds like myself and you use a wrap on the window)
"We have returned from our 3 hour road trip to the NSW South Coast and as always, keeping the kids munching on something (eg crackers) with drinks available helps keep them busy and satisfied. Sure, messy car by the time we get there but it helps beat the boredom. I have always found on long road trips, it helps to align or factor in naptime with the middle of the trip when boredom can start. Plenty of sing along music too (for the parents too)!!"
- Sonja, ACT, Let's Go Bub!
"Travel Tip take some small toys, new ones or old ones hidden for some time leading up to the trip. Wrap them up in all different papers with ribbons etc. Most little ones will have half the fun playing with the wrapped toy, before they have the excitement of unwrapping the toy and then finally playing with it.
Also small bottles of bubbles tucked in your handbag can be an invaluable distraction."
